Dr. Michael P. Ast brings his renowned expertise in orthopedics to Ospitek as the Chief Medical Officer, steering the company towards innovative healthcare solutions. At Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), he also serves as the Chief Medical Innovation Officer, emphasizing his dual commitment to advancing medical practice and patient care. Specializing in rapid-recovery and outpatient joint replacement surgeries, Dr. Ast is a vanguard in primary, complex, and revision total joint replacement. His mastery of minimally invasive techniques and leadership in robotic and computer-assisted surgery are a testament to his forward-thinking approach to orthopedics.

A graduate of Temple University's Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Dr. Ast honed his surgical skills through a residency at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Medical Center and a fellowship at HSS in Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement. His scholarly work, consisting of numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, particularly on patient-specific instruments and implants, has significantly contributed to the medical field.

Before assuming his leadership role at Ospitek, Dr. Ast was instrumental in developing and directing a major outpatient joint replacement program, demonstrating his proficiency in both clinical practice and program management. His background as a Division I gymnast and captain of a top-ten nationally ranked team at Temple University showcases his dedication and leadership qualities that transcend beyond the operating room.
